Bali Teacher Training

Overview

Embark on a journey to Bali and deep into the heart of practice.

Begin your teacher training with a 10-day immersion in Bali. There, we’ll immerse in daily sadhana (practice) to reconnect with our internal rhythm and inner knowing.

The stunning Bagus Jati Resort will be our home base, from which we will explore some of Bali’s cultural, spiritual and geographic landmarks.

Return home inspired to continue your studies, with virtual courses designed to integrate the practice into your life—building a foundation for integration, wholeness and the capacity to teach (if you want) as an emanation of your own commitment to practice.

If you are joining for your first teacher training, choose the 200 hour program. You'll study the philosophical aspects of practice as they relate to our modern lives, and functional anatomy to build a practice from the ground up.

If you already have a 200 hour certificate, choose the 300 hour program. You'll deepen your connection to yoga philosophy, dive into ayurveda (both in Bali and through your core studies), and explore the subtle body and intuitive aspects of teaching. This is an opportunity to deepen your connection to practice and teach from the wisdom of your own practice.

Bali is the perfect place to explore the rich earth and vast sky as we find tangible connections to what grounds us in the heart of the practice. This immersion is for teachers, non-teachers, and all other humans who want to embody yoga as a place between and within the fluctuations. We’ll begin with the foundation of our own practice that will emanate to those around us in class settings, work environments, home, love, children and so on. Then opening to the limitless sky comes with widening of our aperture/view point until these teachings become an offering to all beings.

We’ll meet in the middle of the rice fields at the luxurious Bagus Jati for ten days and nights, near Ubud, Bali, in the heart of the island. Setting our feet at the base of an active volcano, we can feel the power of the earth. As we hike to the top of the volcano at sunrise, we’ll reach for the limitless space all around.

During our time in Bali, we’ll explore:

  • Daily Ritual – Traditional HATHA, modern vinyasa yoga, a little dabble in the Balinese tradition
  • Foundation, form, and precision in your own body/practice
  • Pranayama for grounding and expanding
  • Daily Meditation
  • Asana Lab – taking the postures and studying both gross body and subtle body aspects
  • Sequencing for balanced living
  • Dharma in living
  • Ayurvedic practices
  • Hands-on Assisting
  • Working along and with others to go deeper with truthfulness
  • Bhakti/Devotion/Chanting

FAQ

When will the Bali Immersion begin and end?

We will begin in the late afternoon/early evening of April 23 and end with breakfast on May 3.

What is the deposit and is it refundable?

The deposit will be $1408. Read our cancellation policy. We highly recommend travel insurance, as we do follow our policy.

Which airport should I fly into?

Bali’s airport is in Denpasar. It is about 1.5 hours from Bagus Jati.

Which airline should I fly?

We highly highly recommend booking directly with the airlines, and choosing an airline that is offering refunds or flexible changes.

How long is the flight and when should I arrive/depart?

The length of the flight will depend on your departure city, of course. From the US, it takes about one day of travel. Most flights go through either Taipei or Singapore.

We highly recommend booking flights directly through the airlines. China Airlines and Singapore Airlines are among our most recommended options.

We highly recommend arriving a few days beforehand and leaving several days after if you can. The early arrival gives you space to adjust and the days after leave room for exploration and continued connection.

How do I get from the airport to the training space and form the training to the airport?

Bagus Jati coordinates transportation to and from the airport, as well as to and from Ubud. Airport shuttles are 550,000 Rupiah (about $37 USD), and can be shared by up to 3 people. The transfer fees are not included, because many students choose to travel on their own before or after the training. We can also coordinate transfers from other parts of Bali, including Ubud.

Do I need a visa?

Currently, travelers from over 60 nationalities can arrive with Visa on Arrival for a modest fee at the airport.

How do I exchange my money?

Currency exchange services are very easy to find in Bali. In addition, ATMs are widespread, and most credit and debit cards work in Bali. Check with your bank because many cards offer currency exchange withdrawals without a fee.

Is there laundry on-site?

They do not have machines, but they can send laundry out and it will come back clean in 1-2 days for a modest fee.

Just to be sure, what's included in the training fees?

  • Lodging and all meals during the training starting with dinner on the first day and ending with brunch on the last day
  • Access to the pool
  • Fruit and filtered water
  • Excursions
  • Tuition to complete your 200 or 300 hour training program (the Bali immersion, access to all virtual immersions, and support for your journey through the training)

What's not included?

  • Airfare to and from your home to Bali.
  • Tips for the retreat center staff (we recommend US$20/day, to be shared with the many individuals who make their living supporting our trip; please bring CASH).
  • Airport transfers in Bali.
  • Incidentals (snacks, laundry service)
  • Spa treatment (the spa is incredible).
  • Travel health insurance which is highly recommended
