Fascia “holds us together and keeps us apart”—it wraps around our muscle fibers, our internal organs, and our blood vessels. In this way, it is fundamental to our structural integrity. It also allows our organs to glide across each other, and shifts our fluids, and in this way, allows for suppleness within our bodies.
Aging, injury, and sedentary lifestyles dehydrate and compress our fascia. Since fascia also contains nerves, this can lead to pain, mobility restriction, and less efficient communication throughout the body.
