Foundations

The Stone Yoga School 200 Hour Basic Certification supports the development of a steady personal practice as the foundation for teaching. Students attend two 108-hour residential immersions. Every training is unique, yet all of them focus on the foundations of practice, philosophy, and teaching techniques. This means students can select any two immersions that work for them, knowing they will get a complete foundation for practice and teaching.

Finding Your Path

The Stone Yoga School 1008 Sadhana program reflects a core tenet of Janet’s philosophy of teaching yoga: that we teach from the root of our own practice. The Sadhana program builds on the philosophical and technical expertise gained in the 500-hour program, and asks students to find their own voice and path as teachers.

CAN I APPLY HOURS FROM JANET STONE YOGA TRAININGS TOWARDS MY ANNUAL CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS?

Yes.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE UNTIL I AM CERTIFIED?

It will take a minimum of 6 months to complete your 200 hour certification and a minimum of 1 additional year to complete your 300 hours. You can choose to spread out your workshop enrollment over the course of up to 3 years.

I AM INTERESTED IN ATTENDING ONE OF JANET’S RETREATS, WORKSHOPS OR CONFERENCE EVENTS NOT LISTED HERE, CAN IT COUNT TOWARD MY TRAINING HOURS?

It depends.

For the 200-hour program, plan to enroll in two 108-hour immersions. The depth and, well, immersive nature of these is vital to integrating the practice.

If you are in the 300/500 hour program, then absolutely! When you look at Janet’s full calendar of teaching you’ll see she offers many retreats and workshops internationally in addition to festival and conference classes. These all have the potential to be included in your course of study for the 500 hour program. You should plan to attend at least one 108-hour immersion for a 300-hour certificate and two of 108-hour immersions for a 500-hour certificate.

WHAT IS THE MENTOR PROGRAM?

The mentor program is part of the 300- and 500-hour programs. You will be matched with one of Janet’s long-time trainees, all of whom have completed their 500-hour with Janet, and often many, many more hours.

Your mentor is available for up to one meeting per month (in person or via phone/skype) and can help you craft your personal training curriculum, support you as your create space for personal practice, and offer personalized explorations, reading and assignments.
